Astragalus Root Tea Health Benefits

Astragalus is a widespread plant belonging to the pea family, with more than 3,000 different plant species bearing the name. Also called milk vetch, this small shrub belongs to the temperate climates of the northern hemisphere, and is well known to many of the native populations it grows around. The Middle Eastern varieties were frequently used to make a natural gum, while in Asia, Chinese herbalists would procure it as a valuable herbal ingredient, especially for making herbal tea.

Sweet and Satisfying

When astragalus root is dried and powdered, it creates a cloudy, pale brew with a warm, sweet and mildly sharp flavor, making it a stimulating herbal tea. However, this tea has more to offer than an appealing flavor. Astragalus root is naturally rich in various minerals, including calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, and selenium. This tea also provides flavonoids, amino acids, phytosterol and essential fatty acids, and is a natural source of antioxidants. These elements provide even more incentive to add astragalus tea to your herbal tea collection.

Mellow taste Review by WhitTea
I just had my first cup and the smell is stronger than the taste, smells very earthy but has such a mellow taste (if any flavor) I found. I'm trying it to see if it boosts my energy, so far no burst of energy, but I'll keep giving it a try! (Posted on March 26, 2014)
Taste great with coffee Review by Steph
I love this tea!! The taste was ok for me but my family did not agree. So one morning I brewed coffee with a couple of tea bags in the coffee and that is the BEST tasting coffee we have ever had. If you are going to do this you must use Decaf coffee lol. Caffeinated coffee and Astragalus Root Tea is like drinking several energy drinks in one cup. (Posted on March 7, 2014)

Not My Favorite Review by Alex Cruso
Not the best tasting tea, but you get used to it, and I’ve had a lot worse. My friend drinks it a lot, so maybe it's an acquired taste? Try it for yourself, I guess. (Posted on March 18, 2013)
