Darjeeling Loose Leaf Health Benefits

The world of black teas ranges from earthy and astringent to smooth and malty, but there is one black tea that walks the fine line to offer a lighter, fresher taste than its black tea companions. Crafted exclusively from the small-leaved tea trees of the Darjeeling province of India, darjeeling tea tea is known for its appealing floral fragrance and crisp, dry taste, which has earned it the nickname “the Champagne of Teas”. Darjeeling tea leaves are typically less oxidized than other black teas, putting it closer to a fresh oolong tea than a traditional black tea. This gives it a lighter, less astringent taste than assam or ceylon, yet it also offers a more complex taste than most green teas. The result is an exquisite tea that appeals to a variety of desires.

Why Loose-Leaf Darjeeling?

A fresh darjeeling tea will offer a stimulating taste regardless of its serving method, but a loose-leaf darjeeling can have quite a few advantages. Being able to see the fresh, whole leaves and watch them unfold while steeping reveals the quality of the tea before you even taste it. A loose-leaf tea is also ideal for circulation of the water, imparting the full, complex flavor of the darjeeling leaves. Best of all, a loose-leaf tea can infuse its flavor through multiple steeps for a long-lasting and more satisfying tea time.

Review Title: Loose leaf Darjeeling

Review by Williamon January 20, 2016
I had previously purchased this tea in tea bag form and enjoyed it for its flavor and ease of use. I have made it several times using the leaf in a strainer and enjoy the taste and color it imparts. I tried following the directions of 1 tsp. and about 3 minutes which was very nice and I even used the leaves in a second cup which also had good flavor. I do find I prefer to use 2 tsp. and 3 minutes which produces a more herbaceous smell and a slightly more rust colored liquid which is still not astringent.
