In the Know

If you have any experience with removing the husk from an ear of corn, you're certainly familiar with the long silk strands peeking out from under the husk. Although it may surprise you, these silky tassels, which are often tossed out with the rest of the husk, are actually useful in their own right. Though it may seem odd that the discarded part of a treat as delicious as corn on the cob actually boasts remarkable healing capabilities, it's true.Buddha Teas Corn Silk Tea is one tea worth exploring.

What is Cornsilk?

Corn is one of the most significant of the North American grains, and historically a food staple of numerous Native American tribes. However, few people know that these tribes did not only harvest corn to eat the kernels, but they also saved the corn silk, or stigmas to brew as an herbal tea. Few people are aware of the remarkable ways that corn's long silks at the tip of the “ear” benefit common ailments. When used medicinally, a fascinating transformation occurs from initial harvesting of the fresh yellow silks. As the crop dries, it becomes curly and brown, before sometimes being made into a powder.

Review Title: Light and refreshing

Review by Naomi Ion May 29, 2020
The flavor of this tea is very light and there is a very subtle taste that feels more herbal than corn. It doesn’t taste strong even when brewed for the maximum amount of time, and I’ve even enjoyed it iced! I suffer from some frequent problems and this was recommended by my doctor to help flush the system. It helps a lot!

Review Title: Made a HUGE difference in mom’s stone!

Review by Jennyon March 23, 2020
My mom got very sick because of a stone, and she was scheduled to have surgery to take it out. The doctor mentioned that he wasn’t sure how he was going to remove the stone because of how large it was. A family member recommended that my mom try corn husk tea to help. I I thought it might help a little bit so I bought my mom a month’s supply of this tea. Well, the day of the surgery, the doctor went in to operate and found that there was no stone to remove! I don’t have any proof that it was because of this tea, but this is the one thing my mom started doing differently each day. She and my dad continue to drink it and enjoy it.
