In the Know

Though the FDA does not endorse white horehound for use as a medicine, this immune-boosting ancient herb, with antiviral and antioxidant properties, is one you’ll want to keep stocked in your medicinal tea cupboard.

What Exactly in White Horehound

White horehound is a flowering plant in the mint family that has been naturalized across the globe. Mentioned in conjunction with medicinal use since at least the first century BC, its use was aimed at respiratory issues, and to treat worms in animals. Today, those dealing with respiratory issues go to white horehound to find relief. Though this flowering plant in the mint family, also known as Marrubium vulgare, looks like mint, and is part of the mint family, when made into a tea, it does not taste minty.

Elegantly Enriching

As you sip this herbal tea, you provide your body with an enriching boost of vitamins and minerals. White Horehound Tea offers vitamins like vitamin C, vitamin E and vitamin B complex, as well as iron and potassium. The herb is also a natural source of alkaloids, tannins, pectin, flavonoids and volatile acids, several of which act as antioxidants.

Review Title: Hard to find

Review by Deborahon May 20, 2020
This is hard-to-find tea, especially if you are looking for simple horehound that is a certified and reputable brand. So glad we found it. It was shipped quickly and arrived well packed. The flavor is what it is supposed to be, kind of bitter, but that is fine.

Review Title: Nice to find a horehound tea!

Review by Brianon May 2, 2020
Definitely bitter and, so to speak, not everyone’s cup of tea. I found it takes a while for the horehound taste to develop. Ignore the instructions, at least once, and try letting the tea bag sit in your tea cup until it starts to cool down and you’ll get the taste you find in horehound drops. For me, the medicinal value is subtle; breathing does seem easier with no excess mucous to clear out. Interestingly, the bitterness seems to wake me up, and I’m quite alert afterwards.

Review Title: We Might Still Be A Colony

Review by roberton January 6, 2020
It is fortunate the horehound flower was not known or grown at the time the colonists chose to dump over 46 tons of tea into Boston Harbor. Had it been around, we might still be a colony. A great tasting tea/medicine. I have a lung condition with a big scary name. I drink two cups daily mixing the Horehound with Mullein Tea. Occasionally I will sprinkle a little cayenne pepper into the mix. It works for me.

Review Title: Too Bitter

Review by MissPhinon June 3, 2019
I had the tea steeped as directed on the box, it was really bitter, so much honey couldn't change the taste either.

Review Title: Alright

Review by Kamaon October 8, 2018
I wanted to try this for digestive reasons. It works for that but I am not a fan of the taste, too peppery for me. When had an upset stomach, managed to drink 1/2 cup and felt better quicker than expected.
