In the Know

A root vegetable from Peru, the first documentation of the maca plant was offered by a visiting Spanish friar some 4,000 years ago. Grown and harvested for the nourishing root it produces, maca is a relative of other known root vegetables, including radishes and turnips. Known for its rich nutritional content and mild nature, maca is often referred to as Peruvian Ginseng, even though the two roots are unrelated. With a pleasant earthy, somewhat nutty taste, maca is enjoyed as a root vegetable, as well as brewed into an invigorating herbal tea.

Maca Fun Fact

In herbal medicine, adaptogens are known to help the body adapt to stress, as they instill a balancing effect on bodily processes. As a known adaptogen, maca offers a variety of potential benefits; in other words, it is capable of doing what needs to be done, whether it's cultivating more energy, or providing stress relief.

Rich in Nutrients

Maca root is well known not only for its unique, earthy taste, but its rich nutrient content. It is a natural source of vitamin C, thiamin, riboflavin and even vitamin B12, which is not often found in plants. Maca root also provides several important minerals, including iron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc. Maca tea also offers a tasty herbal source of protein and fiber to enrich your diet, along with amino acids, saponins, tannins and essential fatty acids. Many of its constituents also offer antioxidant properties, making it an excellent addition to your daily regimen.

Review Title: Maca tea

Review by Rosaon February 23, 2021
Maca is a very earthy tasting tea. It's very delicious. You do not need to add a sweetener. My husband and I drink it right after dinner to add more nutrition to our meal. My husband adds a little oat milk or almond milk to it in the morning sometime for breakfast. He says it gives him a jump start before he takes his morning run.

I have only tried one cup of this tea. I didn't really care for the flavor alone, so I will try it with honey, or maybe cinnamon, with my next cup.

Review Title: Wonderful Tea!

Review by Jeffon October 18, 2020
I typically don't add anything to herbal tea, and of all the teas I've tried, this one has the best flavor of all. Most other teas have a taste that I just put up with. But Maca Tea has a flavor that I actually look forward to.

Review Title: My opinion

Review by Jenon July 27, 2017
I love Buddha teas but this one tastes pretty bad. I have to hold my breath to drink it. I've never heard of Maca root, so maybe I'm just not used to the flavor.
I purchased this for the health benefits.
