In the Know

Late summer brings melancholy to some, including the seemingly jolly and respected rose plant. For, this is the time of year when days spent frolicking in lazy afternoons are coming to an end, school beckons, and stalwart roses lose their petals. If you are a rose bush caretaker, you’ve likely been trimming and pruning your flowers so won’t be able to see, or cultivate, any rose hips. If not, however, this is when you will begin to notice the treasure hidden within, which is the focus of this particular profile: the highly nutritious rose hips, or seed pod part of the rose plant.

A Rose Hips Historical Fun Fact

Due to its high vitamin C content, rose hips may have played a significant role in keeping British kids healthy during WWII. When German submarines were destroying cargo ships carrying imported citrus fruit, parents were instructed to gather the rose hips seed pods and make syrup to administer to their children in order to prevent scurvy!

What Does Buddha Teas Rose Hips Tea Taste Like?

If you think your cup of Buddha Teas Rose Hips Tea is going to make your mouth pucker, you couldn’t be more wrong. Unlike the vitamin C lozenges you may have sucked on and reacted with, as Oprah describes, “ugly cry” face, our delicate, balanced vitamin C-rich tea couldn’t taste less tart. So go ahead, steep away, and enjoy this immune-boosting tea any time of day, all year long.

How to Make Rose Hips Tea

Because some of rose hips’ vitamin C can diminish in high heat, we believe in the common sense approach to use water no hotter than about 190-200 degrees F to make your cup of Buddha Teas Rose Hips Tea. Steep as long as you like, though; as stated above, the smooth flavor will not bitter, even up to a 10-minute soak.

Review Title: Not really my cup of tea

Review by ecoartsyon March 29, 2018
Really wanted to love it, but unfortunately it didn't taste like rose. I was looking for a subtle hint of rose aroma like my usual tea and this just tasted like more a black tea?

Review Title: Love it

Review by Solo from VAon September 27, 2017
Very neutral slightly tangy and yet berry lasting, in Mongolia we call it Ulaan hushuu, which is known for helps to lower bp, rich with vitamin C and best for the cardiovascular system. Therefore as a kid used to pick them up from the forest and dried them later made some tea for grandma <3 Highly recommended

Review Title: Rose hips tea

Review by blueyedkittyon June 10, 2017
When I was a girl in Idaho, my mother would go out with the Native women to pick wild choke cherries. They would also pick what we called Haw Berries. The old women told my mother, to take the Haw Berries home and make a tea of them and feed them to the children "so they wouldn't get sick during the winter. " She did so and we found the taste both tangy and delightful and we didn't get sick the whole winter. Imagine my surprise when a few years later, we discovered that the Haw Berries we liked were also called rose hips. Since them I've gone a lot of places to find rose hip tea that tasted like the stuff mom used to brew, and I'm happy to find it in your product.

Review Title: Fragrant Tea

This Rose Hip Tea has wonderful flavor and scent. Tried another brand and it was flavorless. This almost tastes as good as picking the rose hips in the wild and making the tea from them.
