The ornamental leaves of wormwood are the source of wormwood tea, a bitter herbal beverage first introduced by herbalists in the 16th century. Wormwood is a perennial plant commonly found in temperate regions across Asia, Europe and northern Africa. It belongs to the Artemisia family, along with sage and mugwort. Although it is most often used today as an ornamental plant in landscaping, it was traditionally used in a variety of beverages. Historically, wormwood was used to provide flavor to alcoholic beverages, including beer and absinthe. NOTE: This tea is very strong and bitter, and is generally not recommended for purely recreational drinking.

Positive Qualities of Wormwood Tea

Wormwood tea is typically described as pungent and very bitter, making it unappealing to most as a recreational beverage. Those who take an interest in wormwood tea, however, will find that this tisane has several good qualities to offer. The wormwood herb is a natural source of vitamin C and vitamin B complex. It also contains various constituents, including flavonoids, phenolic acid, beta carotene and chlorogenic acid, merely to name a few.

Review Title: Must have!!

Review by Gigion December 13, 2017
This tea has definitely become my go to when I'm starting to feel ill, or when I want to go through a natural cleanse. The taste does take some time to get used to, though, I will say that. But that is expected with wormwood. Powerful stuff, so be careful to follow directions and doses as described on the box.

Review Title: Gross but worth taking

Review by Juliaon March 28, 2017
I wanted to share my tip on how I can manage to drink this. It's flavor is potent. My first cup I thought I was going to throw up. Whatever you do don't drink this hot, I tried to cover up the taste with flavors, lemon and such. Don't do that. I couldn't have anything lemon flavored for 2 weeks. The best way I found was to brew it with 6 oz of water. Put some salt in while it's hot so it dissolves (Himalayan or something if you want the trace minerals). Then put in some ice to chill it. Be careful on how much you add because you are increasing the volume of this that you have to drink. Add just enough to chill it. Use a straw and suck it down as fast as you can with the straw as far in your mouth as you can manage so as little as possible touches your tongue.

It is super healthy so power through. You can do it!
