In the Know

The ornamental leaves of wormwood are the source of Wormwood Tea, a bitter herbal beverage first introduced by herbalists in the 16th century. Wormwood is a perennial plant commonly found in temperate regions across Asia, Europe and northern Africa. It belongs to the Artemisia family, along with sage and mugwort. Although it is most often used today as an ornamental plant in landscaping, it was traditionally used in a variety of beverages. Historically, wormwood was used to provide flavor to alcoholic beverages, including beer and absinthe. NOTE: This tea is very strong and bitter, and is generally not recommended for purely recreational drinking.

Positive Qualities of Wormwood Tea

Wormwood Tea is typically described as pungent and very bitter, making it unappealing to most as a recreational beverage. Those who take an interest in Wormwood Tea, however, will find that this tisane has several good qualities to offer. The wormwood herb is a natural source of vitamin C and vitamin B complex. It also contains various constituents, including flavonoids, phenolic acid, beta carotene, and chlorogenic acid.

Review Title: BITTER

Review by FELIPEon February 17, 2020

Review Title: Best

Review by Michaelon February 11, 2020
I enjoyed the fullness of taste: bitter, sweet, salty, and natural bring balance of taste into being. I love the bitter because it balances the other flavor aspects. I dilute the wormwood tea bag, so it lasts for four days per bag and I get the same outcome.

Review Title: Bitter at first but really grew to love the taste, oddly enough

Review by Jasonon January 2, 2020
The first sip was not one that I expected, but by the end of the box I really grew to love the taste. This tea seems to mellow me out a bit, and I feel really good after drinking it. Some others have mentioned it, but I noticed a heightened sense of alertness from my senses. After a few days, I started to smell things I've never smelled before and taste flavors I have never tasted before. The only downside is that I ran out of tea bags. You can tell the tea was really fresh, and I look forward to ordering more and trying some different styles of tea from Buddha Teas.

Review Title: Bitter for real

I heard this tea was good to potentially help the liver, and I have yet to drink more than 2 sips.

Review Title: You can't go wrong with Buddha Tea!

Review by Debion September 8, 2019
My functional nutritionist told me to buy Wormwood Tea for parasites. I went to whole foods and it wasn't there. Amazon had it at 3x the price! I ordered from Buddha Teas and am very pleased with the quality of the product and the delivery time. I don't yet know how effective it is for parasites, but it's awful to drink. I'm grateful that Buddha Tea sells this product!

Review Title: Amazing for Parasites

Review Title: Wormwood

Review by Brookeon January 3, 2019
I love bitter stuff and the wild taste of this tea is perfect. Very much like mugwort but a stronger taste. Helps with giving me vivid and sometimes lucid dreams too, which is why I bought it.

Review Title: Love it!

Review by Pamon January 1, 2019
Yes, Wormwood Tea has a strong flavor-- but it's one that I love! I find it reminiscent of grapefruit, and it actually tastes a lot like grapefruit seed extract. To help smooth it out a bit, I'm double-bagging with a sweet citrus tea, such as orange. Then it's a lot like having a cup of hot grapefruit juice, which is both warming and refreshing.

Review Title: Love it

Review by LDogon October 18, 2018
All right, so I can handle the flavor of this no problem. Most would think, oh dear god how can you handle it plain?! It tastes like mugwort, except waaay more bitter. Mixing it with Damiana really mutes the flavor so it's at least easy to cover up if you can't handle it.

I got it to help with dreams. Mugwort works great, and with this being a very close relative I figured, let's do it. I wasn't disappointed and out of all the things for dreams I have tried, mugwort and wormwood so far are the absolute best
